Filipino Boxers
Boxers that hail from the Philippines are regarded as some of the best in the world in the lighter divisions. Many aspiring young athletes, especially in the provincial areas, turn to boxing as a means of income. With the large pool of young Pinoy boxers, its no wonder that a good number of these athletes turn professional every year.
Here in the Philippine islands, we have produced a fine lot of professional boxers, representing the Pinoys in the global stage. Pinoy professional boxers are quite competitive, and always bring the pride of the Philippines with them in competition.
Aside from the current stars of Pinoy boxing like Manny Pacquiao and Brian Villoria, there are many other professional Pinoy boxers worth mentioning. One such Pinoy boxer is Nonito Donaire. Competing in the Super Flyweight division, Nonito Donaire holds a 19-1 win-loss record, with 12 wins via knockout. These statistics give Nonito Donaire a 95% winning percentage, with a 63% knockout rate.
Another Pinoy boxer that is quickly rising up in rank is Alex John Banal, who hails from Cebu City, Philippines. Alex Banal is currently competing in the Flyweight division, and holds a 17-0 win loss record. This Pinoy boxer has a 94% winning percentage, and his 14 knockouts give him an 82% knockout percentage.
Many other Pinoy boxers are moving up in the charts and slowly making a name for themselves, all in the quest of bringing more glory to their home country, the Philippines. Bernabe Concepcion, Jason Pagara, Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista, and many other boxers from the Philippines are in constant training to keep themselves battle-ready and in perfect conditioning.
